Slim & Sue's Program

Lasso Our Heritage: Cowboys and Cowgirls in Story and Song

Contemporary life in the American west is profoundly influenced by our rich heritage in the legend and lore of the early cowboys and cowgirls. In song, poetry, and story, this colorful program relates expressions of the work ethic, hardships, and joys of frontier life. These traditions continue and are strong and vibrant in present day agricultural life. The Matleys bring the vibrancy of this tradition to life in this musical and poetic presentation, bringing the exciting lives of the cowboys and cowgirls alive.

Program note: We provide our own sound equipment, suitable for most auditoriums
and small venues.  Mileage is calculated from Prescott, WA, unless we can arrange other engagements in your area, in which case mileage is shared.

What is Humanities Washington?

The Humanities Washington Speakers Bureau offers 30 engaging experts who provide free public presentations across the state. Humanities Washington’s speakers provoke audiences to think, learn, engage, and often laugh. H. W. encourages all organizations to apply to host a speaker. They do ask host organizations to cover speaker travel costs and to publicize the event, but Humanities Washington pays the performers' fees.
Presentations must be open to the public, free of charge.

For information on all 30 programs available, please explore this link:
http://www.humanities.org/programs/speakers/current-speakers/

To reach as many Washingtonians as possible H.W. partners with a wide range of organizations including libraries, schools, museums and historical societies, retirement homes, community centers and civic organizations. Best of all--these presentations are free to the public!

Humanities Washington’s Speakers Bureau has sponsored over 4,000 presentations in each of the state’s 39 counties, reaching more than 185,000 people since 1973.
